Course Description
In business, often problems arise that cannot be solved on the spot. Even when we think we know the issue, often something deeper is causing the problem. The skill of problem solving is used to determine the root causes of issues and to generate creative options that will solve the problem, while considering short-term and long-term implications on the business. This course teaches the systematic approach to problem solving. You'll learn each step of the process all the way to solution. We'll cover how to dissect a general problem to get to the root of the problem, and once there, the different methodologies that can be used to generate creative options to solve the problem. We'll also cover how to evaluate options to get to the best solution for your problem. We'll review core problem solving concepts such as facts versus feelings, restrainers and drivers, root problem statement, brainstorming versus spectrum, and simple versus complex problem solving. By the end of this course you will have a systematic approach to solving a problem that will lead to more creative solutions and solutions that will solve the root of problems, avoiding partially solved and reoccurring problems.
